Nondestructive Testing Services:

Radiographic

Inspection will show internal and external structural details of all types of parts and materials. It is accomplished by passing the X-rays or Gamma rays through the part being inspected to expose a radiographic film. The processed film shows the structural detail of the part by variations in film density. Interpretation of the radiographs will indicate defects or damage to the part. AAI is licensed by the Texas Department of Health (L01336 & R06487) for both X-ray and Gamma ray services. Radiographic services can be provided anywhere in the USA as well as abroad.

Ultrasonic

Inspection is a NDT method used for the inspection of most metals, composites, plastics, and ceramics for surface and subsurface defects. The inspection of components is accomplished by inducing the ultrasonic wave into the part by a contacting transducer then evaluating reflections of the sound wave displayed on an ultrasonic instrument. Access to only one side of the part is required in order to perform an ultrasonic inspection.

Eddy Current

Inspection is used to detect surface or near-surface defects in most metals, as well as sort metals based on conductivity, and heat-treat conditions. The inspection is performed by inducing eddy currents into a part and electronically observing variations in the induced field. Changes in the field are displayed on the eddy current instrument and can be interpreted so as to determine the nature of the defective condition.

Magnetic Particle

Ispection is capable of indicating both surface and near-surface defects in ferromagnetic materials. The test is accomplished by inducing a magnetic field into the part or subjecting the part to a magnetic field and applying iron oxide particles onto the part. Local magnetic poles formed by defects in the part, attract the particles so they may be viewed and evaluated either by color contrast or black light in the case of fluorescent particles. AAI has both in-house stationary wet magnetic particle capabilities and portable test equipment.

Penetrant

Inspection is performed by applying a liquid, which penetrates into surface defects. Excessive penetrating liquid is removed and suitable developers applied draw the penetrant from the defect so that visual indications are obtained by color contrast or fluorescence of the penetrant.

AAI can provide all types and methods of penetrant inspections including:

Type I Fluorescent
Type II Visible Dye
Type III Dual Mode
Method A Water Washable
Method B Post Emulsified Lipophylic
Method C Solvent Removable
Method D Emulsified Hydrophylic
Visual

Inspection is the most common form of examination, and consists of viewing the area of concern with the eye aided by magnifying glass, borescope, light source or other means. We can inspect your machines using Optical Micrometers, Borescopes, or Optical Prisms.

Welder Certification

All American Inspections is capable of qualifying procedures and welders in Accordance with ASME, AWS, API and MIL-STDs.
